Reliable Rhubarb

The rhubarb is amazing this year! I took a photo of the rhubarb mid-May last year. By mid-April this year, the rhubarb was just as big as in that photo. Call it global warming, call it a mild winter, call it the uncertainty of gardening…by any name, all the perennial plants are a month ahead of normal growth and doing really well.

Playing Hooky

We played hooky yesterday, something we don’t do often. In fact, in choosing the title of this piece, I learned that I don’t even really know how to spell “hooky.”

Friends of ours have dedicated their summer, or at least the finer weathered portions of it, to kayaking. They invite us along often, but we rarely go, as we need to work, particularly when the sun shines. Yesterday, though, we gave into the temptation, and had an excellent adventure.
