Spotlight on Ferns

Living under the eastern face of the peninsula ridge, we miss out on most of the afternoon sunlight. However, what we do get is highly filtered, which causes some lovely effects as it highlights specific spots around the homestead.

When I topped the tree that forms a support post for the outhouse a few years ago, Michelle potted a fern and set it on the post. On a recent afternoon, nature highlighted her decoration.

This is all the more appreciated as it came during a recent sunny period, beginning June 1, ironically enough, in a lot of unseasonable raininess.

We live in a place of large scale beauty, but sometimes, it’s the details that really break my heart.
