General Update

Not much to report on the homestead recently, which is good; the combination of tour ships and wet weather, a potent combination according to my knowledgeable source in these matters (see The Mysteries of Cellular Internet Explained) has reduced our internet time considerably. For instance, it took me several days to successfully upload the September Monthly Movie recently.

Oddly, and somewhat pleasantly, we’ve alternated rainy days and sunny days over last weekend. Michelle’s and Aly’s end-of-season staff party for Rainbow Glacier Adventures fell on a sunny day; since it included a chartered boat to Skagway, that turned out quite nice!

Monthly Movie for September

Wednesday, I shot the September monthly movie in the 7:00 a.m. hour. I adore the stillness before full sunrise, and couldn’t resist recording it.

I filmed just before the weather turned wet. Within hours, light rain showers began. That’s good—we’ve enjoyed warm sunny weather, but we really need the moisture!

If you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of spruce cones hitting our metal roofs, as squirrels harvest the cones (see The Squirrels Are Going Nuts!). They’ve made quite a racket these last few days, focusing their greatest efforts on early morning and late evening sessions.
