The Whole Picture

We just returned from an extended weekend trip to Juneau to attend a loved one’s wedding. Today, we’re running hard! Michelle returned to work, we’re hauling heavy loads in from the car, and trying to follow up on book marketing contacts made during the trip. On top of that, we need to make time for cutting firewood to dry in this week’s warm sunny weather, and track down a stolen boat!

So, not much time for the blog at the moment. However, I took some pretty good photos on the trip, including this one.

When the big tour ships cruise past our place, the decks light up with photo flash. While we’re sure they’re taking photos that will show a black, looming silhouette bordered by blinding white ship railings, what they’re trying to photograph is Rainbow Glacier, which can be seen across Chilkat Peninsula.

Like a diamond on a beautiful ring, we can’t really see or appreciate the setting of our “homestead” until we get out away from it to see the whole picture . . . as it were.
