Hangover

I arose late this morning, around 7:30, feeling woozy. My head aches. My muscles, especially in my arms and hands, are cramping. There’s a dent in one palm where I stabbed myself with a screwdriver. I’m a mess, but our off the grid power system now features proper breakers!

I powered down and began installing the breaker box about 7:00 p.m. last night. I think I got to bed around 2:00 a.m. I had sorted wires, drawn diagrams, measured, and assembled components beforehand, but the final act of reassigning wires, cutting new ones, and overcoming the general cussedness and inertia of ticklish projects ate up the time and my energy.

I listened to a favorite book while I worked. Michelle said she heard very little swearing! I did swear, I confess, but I managed to keep it fairly quiet. She slept on the couch to lend moral support, and that simple gesture helped wonderfully.

I learned that all of our really big spiders come out to hunt in the cabin at night. I kept my mind on my work, and didn’t kill a single one. They have their job, I have mine.

At any rate, it all works! We now have proper over current protection. I can sleep better (and longer!) tonight.
