Aly Rides the Bosun's Chair
Summer of 2002
When we were in Auke Bay, Mark pointed out to Aly a crew member using a bosun's chair to climb the rigging of a passing sailing yacht. It captured her imagination, so she was thrilled to discover that her uncle and aunt had a bosun's chair on Luna. One day while we were dried out, she got to ride their chair up Luna's foremast.

Uncle David secures the bosun's
chair to the halyard, and double-checks the safety harness.

Dad prepares to haul away.
He suggested that after she went up a few feet, she'd have had enough.

Yeah, right!

One more time. Up she goes, cheerily, me hearties!

She's about 30 feet off the
ground here, and ready for more!
On one trip up she took a camera.
