Outhouse Reconstruction Begins

We’re getting a run of clear, cold weather, so we’ve begun rebuilding the guest outhouse that got knocked over by a falling rock on September 20th.

We moved the rock off of the platform a while back and have started putting up new walls. Like many local outhouses, and much like its original design, it’ll have three low walls with an open side under a roof. Because it’s up behind the guesthouse out of sight from everything, there’s no need to enclose it much to provide privacy.

Once we’re done, we’ll likely take some old fishnets and drape them over the slope above the outhouse to try to keep other rocks from falling. That doesn’t seem likely, but it’s best to be prepared if possible.

We’re trying to keep it simple and get it done. My sister’s coming for Christmas, so we’re under a bit of a deadline. Hopefully we’ll get it up this week. We’ll be posting photos soon. Stay tuned!
