On Wednesday, we bought a pair of used kayaks from a lovely local couple. They live out on Lutak Road, and it was a hot, sunny afternoon, so we took the kayaks on out to Chilkoot Lake to try them out.
What a blast! We feel like we have twin Ferraris! These boats are so light that Michelle can carry one with one hand, and she can load it on the car top by herself. Now we have much more water mobility between ideal tides. She can “catch a kayak” across the bay or all the way home when the tide’s too high to walk across the bay.
I made a video with the film and photos we took, just messing around. As you can see from our smiles, we had an excellent time!
The next day, we joked that we had been on vacation. It brought home to us that we really need to “get out more.” That’s ironic, considering where and how we live, but we sometimes forget the value of pure recreation. It doesn’t all have to be work, or productive. Sometimes we just need to race around on a lake for an afternoon!
We bought these kayaks for many practical reasons, but their potential for fun should not be ignored.
I think you have got yourselves something there. Looked like having a lot of fun. Can’t get over how pretty the country is where you live. Was up on the Buffalo ( a national river) today. Lots of kayaks and canoes. Nice but better in the Fall when it is cooler. Rigging the canoe with oars and possibly a sail for the lake here. Continue enjoying the good life.
