The time has come
To wrap myself in Autumn
Scratchy, heavy, and slightly
Musty like an old wool blanket
The season settles on and around me
As comforting
And protecting
As a gruff old uncle’s embrace.
Lulling me
Urging me to be at peace
Even as it nudges me gently
Toward continuing responsibilities
